Lincoln Hall Arrest

From 390.com:  28 April 2011.  On 04/27/2011 at approximately 8:00 pm, the State Police in Somers were dispatched to Lincoln Hall for a report of an assault that occurred between two residents. After an investigation, it was later determined that a 15 year old resident struck the 17 year old victim in the face and caused physical injury after a dispute over money. The 15 year old suspect was arrested for Assault 3rd and was transported to SP Somers where he was processed without incident. He is to appear for arraignment in Family Court on 04/29/2011 at 10:00 am. The 17 year old victim was treated for his injuries at Putnam Hospital Center, released, and later returned to Lincoln Hall.

Lincoln Hall Names Another Somers Man To Its Board

Edward G. Angelini of Somers, NY has been elected to the Board of Managers of Lincoln Hall, President Douglas W. Wyatt announced on January 26. Lincoln Hall is a school for the treatment and rehabilitation of troubled or delinquent male teens located on Route 202 in Lincolndale, a hamlet in Somers, NY. It was the scene of a minor riot in December and the school has promised reforms.

President Wyatt also announced that John L. Corcoran of Yorktown Heights was also elected. Noting that Somers resident James Garrity is already a member of the Board, Wyatt said these “residents of the greater upper Westchester community will help us improve our perspective as good neighbors throughout the locality,”

Mr. Angelini is an associate general counsel of Purdue Pharma L.P. and resides in Baldwin Place with his wife and four children. He said:

The boys served by Lincoln Hall have few alternatives if they are to become productive members of society. For many of them, Lincoln Hall represents a last chance to get back on the right path. The continued success of this historic institution, therefore, ought to be a matter of importance to all of us, and I am proud for the opportunity to lend my professional and personal capabilities to its management.

TWO LOCAL RESIDENTS JOIN LINCOLN HALL BOARD

SOMERS, NY, Jan 26 – John L. Corcoran of Yorktown Heights and Edward G. Angelini of Baldwin Place have been elected to the Board of Managers of Lincoln Hall, President Douglas W. Wyatt, Esq. announced today.

“These two local residents join another Somers resident who is already a member of the Lincoln Hall Board, James L. Garrity, a former federal judge. Lincoln Hall will benefit greatly by these additions to our Board. Their professional qualifications will enhance our efficiency and efficacy in delivering services to the youngsters we serve. And, the fact that they are residents of the greater upper Westchester community will help us improve our perspective as good neighbors throughout the locality,” Mr. Wyatt said.

Mr. Corcoran is a partner in the Manhattan-based firm of Owen J. Flanagan & Co., Certified Public Accountants. He received his accounting degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, graduating with Honors in 1982. His specialty is in not-for-profit auditing and accounting. Mr. Corcoran is a long time resident of Yorktown Heights where he lives with his wife and two children and where he volunteers as a religious education teacher at St. Patrick’s Parish.

“I welcome the opportunity to participate in the important work of Lincoln Hall, which has helped change the lives of so many young men over nearly a century and a half. And, I am grateful for the honor of being called to serve,” Mr. Corcoran said.

Mr. Angelini is associate general counsel of Purdue Pharma L.P., a privately held pharmaceutical company based in Stamford, CT. He is a graduate of Amherst College and Boston University School of Law where he earned his J.D degree in 1993. Mr. Angelini resides in Baldwin Place with his wife and four children.

Riot At Lincoln Hall

State and Somers police broke up a riot involving 30 students at Lincoln Hall School for Boys in Somers, NY on Friday. Two employees were injured and five students arrested. For details see the article at the 390.com.

Lincoln Hall is a school for the treatment and rehabilitation of troubled or delinquent male teens. This incident is the latest in a series of problems at the School. In November, police arrested five teens for vandalism or assault in three separate incidents, and in August, police charged two teens with burglary of homes in Somers.

As reported in LoHud.com, Somers Town officials are concerned.

Town officials are requesting a meeting with Lincoln Hall administrators to discuss the surge in violence, said Town Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy.

“In the last six to nine months, Lincoln Hall students have been in our court more than ever,” Murphy said Sunday. “We’re trying to get a meeting with their board of directors to discuss what has to be done. We want to find out what’s changed in the last year to create the situation where there are repeated incidents that seem to be escalating.”

Somers Man Hit By Train In Stable Conditon

A 32 year-old man from Baldwin Place is in stable condition after being hit by a Metro-North train on Saturday at the Croton-Harmon station. NCNLocal.com, in a story by Mary Dempsey posted on Monday reports that Joseph Vasilopoulos jumped off the platform in front of the train as it was slowing down. Foul play is not suspected. Lincoln Hall Teens Charged In Burglaries In Somers

State police filed charges against juveniles from Lincoln Hall relating to two unrelated burglaries. The story by Terrence Corcoran in LoHud.com posted on August 17, says that two juveniles, age 15, entered a Dellworth Drive home through an unlocked window on Friday and stole a laptop and other electronic equipment worth about $2600. Police charged a third 15 year-old for a burglary of electronics worth about $930 at a Benjamin Greene Lane home in July. The cases go to Family Court.
